RSS readers are web services allowing users to subscribe to RSS feeds online and view them. If Firefox detects a feed, it offers the user to subscribe to it, either as a live bookmark or via one of the web services. The current RSS Readers in en-US are Bloglines, My Yahoo, Google. We want to ship a good set of defaults for Estonian, and will work towards that in three stages. First, the localization team and Mic (Michal Berman) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good candidates. Sander, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines. After we decided on a particular RSS reader, Mic will contact the owner and ask for permission. undefined, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information. Once we have a specification on what the set of RSS readers for Estonian should look like, the localization team and Axel will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Axel. After a successful review, the localization team will land them. If you're not feeling comfortable with creating those changes, ask Axel to help out. Please don't commit any modifications in l10n/et/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties to the cvs repository without a patch reviewed by Axel or someone else appointed by Mic. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.
we don't have such service providers in Estonia but i think Google Reader would be the best. they are probably the first to translate their feed reader into estonian.

Sander, thanks for the opinion about Google Reader. What do you think about Netvibes? They have a partially translated interface for Estonian (44%), maybe including them in Firefox would encourage the community to contribute to their translation? What do you think?
First time i hear anything about it. Not sure how good idea it is compared to Google Reader which is for RSS only.
Netvibes is a service that follows the 'dynamic start page' concept, similar to what google.com/ig is. We include it in many locales because they usually have very good localization (provided by the community). In case of Estonian 44% is still better than 0% I also think including Netvibes in Estonian Firefox can stimulate Netvibes community to provide even better localization in Estonian, benefiting users of both Firefox and Netvibes at the end. I'd say: let's do this :) Like in other bugs, my question is about the defaults: what do you think about My Yahoo and Bloglines?
Ok, if you say so :) About bloglines or my yahoo. i haven't used them and don't know much about.
Sander, let's go with the following list: * Netvibes * My Yahoo * Google This replaces Bloglines with Netvibes and leaves the other readers as they are in en-US. What do you say?
I think it's ok :)
Care to make the patch? (All changes to default web services need to go through bugzilla and the patch reviews process.)
Sander, ping? Do you need any help with this?
hmm, i have no good idea what i should do next? :) what patch?
:) You'll need to change line 9 and 10 here: http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/et/file/5baaf163ed6e/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties#l9 You can use the French version as an example: http://mxr.mozilla.org/l10n-central/source/fr/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties#9 > browser.contentHandlers.types.0.title=Netvibes > browser.contentHandlers.types.0.uri=http://www.netvibes.com/subscribe.php?url=%s Please submit a patch to this bug and request a review. Thanks!
Sander, the reason why I asked to submit a patch was to review it *before* you land it. For web services, please don't land code that hasn't been reviewed. Please provide a patch for a review. We still need to get this fixed on CVS.
I hope this is what you ment.

Please use the fixed1.9.0.4 keyword for this bug once the patch lands and then add verified1.9.0.4 after verifying in a nightly build. Thanks. Also, in the future please use 'cvs diff -u' for the unified format of the output.
