RSS readers are web services allowing users to subscribe to RSS feeds online and view them. If Firefox detects a feed, it offers the user to subscribe to it, either as a live bookmark or via one of the web services. The current RSS Readers in en-US are Bloglines, My Yahoo, Google. In other Indic locales, we're adding Netvibes, that might make sense here, too. We want to ship a good set of defaults for Assamese, and will work towards that in three stages. First, the localization team and Mic (Michal Berman) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good candidates. Amitakhya, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines. After we decided on a particular RSS reader, Mic will contact the owner and ask for permission. undefined, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information. Once we have a specification on what the set of RSS readers for Assamese should look like, the localization team and Axel will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Axel. After a successful review, the localization team will land them. If you're not feeling comfortable with creating those changes, ask Axel to help out. Please don't commit any modifications in l10n/as/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties to the cvs repository without a patch reviewed by Axel or someone else appointed by Mic. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.
i have not find any companies that are providing a reader in your language. i have asked netvibes if they have a reader available and will post back what i find. otherwise I'd suggest we go with defaults unless you have other recommendations :)
Assamese is currently supported in Netvibes although it may not be fully translated yet. I think it would still be a good addition if you agree, as at least it's on it's way to being a fully Assamese version of the Reader. Here is more information in Netvibes Translating tool: http://www.netvibes.com/?lang=as_IN
Hi! I am not getting any web site that are currently supporting Assamese RSS Feeder. What should we do next here ?
we can go with en-us defaults and swap bloglines for netvibes to encourage the translation to netvibes OR leave with en-us default i.e., Google Reader, My Yahoo and Bloglines - please lmk what you think
Component: Other → as / Assamese

I think we can leave with en-US default. I will get back to you if I come across any information later on.
ok so closing on this with the following list: Google, My Yahoo, Bloglines pike can we close this bug?
Closing. http://bonsai-l10n.mozilla.org/cvsblame.cgi?file=l10n/as/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties&rev=1.2&root=/l10n http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/as/file/364a27c46629/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties I'd propose Netvibes, but the Assamese l10n is currently at 0%. I'd like to revisit this decision if it improves, though. Our goal should be to include localized services whenever possible.
