Is layout.word_select.stop_at_punctuation set to true?

Right, it needs to be set to true, which is our new default for Firefox 3. So either you changed it or openSUSE did.

don't know. vanilla trunk build worked and openSUSE one didn't (the same profile). probably openSUSE changed.

Yeah, I guess they did it on purpose, but it might be a good idea to file a bug at https://bugzilla.novell.com/ anyway.
