On the Mac (at least) if you press CMD+ or CMD- the font size on the page is increased or decreased for the CURRENT WINDOW if you have two windows open. This is how FF2 and earlier behaved. This is the correct behaviour. Yay for correct behaviour.

FF3 has ****. If you have two windows open it changes the size in BOTH windows. This is bad for many reasons. Let's say I am on my bank's size which renders perfectly except for their stupid bankmail feature. That's always printed in 9 point type because they are stupid (ignore cheap shot at my bank as it's irrelevant to problem but still makes me feel good). So on FF2 I would just hit CMD+ a few times and it would be readable. I'd then close the window and my original window (startup window or main window or whatever you call it), would still be untouched. Now it's WAY big and, of course, malformed because no site works well when it gets big. So I increased my 9 point font to 12 in the mail window, but the 16 point font in the regular window went to 24(?). FAIL!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open two windows on any two website (or same site different page) I suggest BBC news or CNN but any two sites work.
2. In the second window change the size. Main window size also changes.

Actual Results:
Font size changes in both open windows.

Expected Results:
Font size should change only in current window for which user pressed CMD+ (or CMD-)

I searched and other people are having font size problems because of the change in default font on the Mac but I do not feel this is a related problem.
I think most sites use fonts consistently, so remembering the zoom setting is appropriate. But in the case of your bank's site, that isn't the case.

I guess you either want bug 378549 reverted (you can set browser.zoom.siteSpecific to false) or you want a fix for bug 419612.

Or you could set up a Greasemonkey script or a user stylesheet to fix the one bad page on your site ;)

Summary: FF3 misbehaves when using font size changes → Changing zoom should not affect other pages from the same site
After reading your comments, I went to 419612. I believe this is related to 419612 at least given my limited understanding as the cause of the problem.

The bottom line is it all worked great in FF2 and doesn't work in FF3. (I use my Bank's site as an example because, quite frankly, they deserve the complaints. However it's not the only site with the issue.)
