We need a page for these now, even if the location gets changed as part of the big www.m.o reorg and modernization. specicially I need a plact to post the new policy on Incubator Repositories. Also, I should go through the www.m.o/hacking page and pull out those things that are official policies and move them some place more findable. David and I are thinking of > http://www.mozilla.org/policies/, which would have a short description (much like the hacking page does today) and links to the full policies. No plans to change the location of the policies that currently exist, will just create a page that points to them besides www.m.o/hacking
mozilla.org/policies sounds fine, but is this intended to be a top-level nav in the short term? My guess is that in the long term there will be a pointer to it under Developers, Foundation, and About, but where do you want it in the short term? (Long term idea would be... have sections for various policies. i.e., some policies are more "Foundation" and some are strictly about the Development process. We'd break up the page as logically as possible. It wouldn't get a top level entry because it wouldn't need it; we'd link to it everywhere.)
In the short term I don't think it matters where (or if) we're linking to this new page from the site navigation. I think Mitchell just needs a place on www.mozilla.org to post a new policy and link to other current policies so she can then link to this page from other places (her blog, wiki.m.o). At the next www.mozilla.org planning meeting we can figure out where it fits it to the site structure and change the URL and template as needed.
+1 on the short term fix. It would be nice if the page title helped someone searching, so "policy" or "policies" would be great. Doing this will also give us a page that lists policies which will help us look at Sam's suggestion and decide if and we might break the policies into different sections.
OK, the policies page now exists at: http://www.mozilla.org/policies/ This is just a blank page that says 'Official Mozilla Policies' right now. Mitchell, let us know if there's anything else in the short term we can do to help with this page.

Created attachment 340387 [details] Draft of policies page Attached is a draft of a Policies page. I gathered as many links to policy documents that I could find, but I'm sure I'm missing some. Also, some of the policies that are included are likely out of date and others are labeled as draft, so we might want to remove some. This draft will hopefully be a good starting point though for putting a page together.
I haven't checked for completeness or anything, but from a fast look, I really like this page, makes it much easier to find those documents if one knows a central access point to them :)
Looks good to me. Even if it's not complete, we can always add more later. Land it! :)
Before I post this, I'd like to discuss where this should live in the site structure long-term. I'm currently leaning toward having it live in the About section and also moving the /policies directory to be under /about/policies. Does anyone have any strong feelings about this one way or the other? BTW, I also wanted to mention that as we continue with the archiving process we may want to move some of the policy files to this new directory. For instance, I've been going through the hacking directory recently and am trying to sort out the documentation that can move to MDC from the policies which should stay on www.mozilla.org. Instead of keeping a hacking folder with three or four files, I'd rather clean it up by moving those into the policies directory.
I checked in the changes to the Policies page and also moved it into the About section at http://www.mozilla.org/about/policies/index.html Before closing this, I'll post on Governance to get feedback and suggestions for changes.
Closing as fixed. If there are any other policies to add to this page, please file a new bug.
