Clicking the 'Decline' button sends an email, but doesn't change the iMIP bar, i.e. buttons still visible as before.

Lightning 0.9pre (2008071619) on WinXP.

Hmm, I don't think that's necessarily a bug. The event hasn't been added to the calendars (you could still decide to accept), or decline a second time... IMO it's correct that you get these options a second time you open the same email, but maybe we could add some status message like "You've declined the invitation." after the email has been sent. I don't think this is blocking; we're in string freeze anyway.

I would propose to show dropdown in place of buttons if the message has been accepted, declined etc. so user can change their decision.

UI sample for declined invitation (imip bar "mockup"):

You've declined the invitation. (Change decision^)
                                (Accept )
                                (Tentative )

This has been fixed with bug 457203. Pressing "Decline" adds the item to the calendar (PARTSTAT=DECLINED) and sends an email. The event copy has a different appearance, and allows the user to re-accept the invitation.
