Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.15) Gecko/20080623 Firefox/2.0.0.15
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080??? Firefox/2.0.0.16

After the installation of 2.0.0.16 patch, clicking on a link in another application (email) causes the Firefox page to load in the backgound. Previous to this patch, it would switch focus to the new page (my preference). (Firefox is set at the default browser. This problem occurred immediately after patch, with no other system changes.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on link in another application (e.g. Eudora e-mail client)
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Firefox page loads, but stays in background, does not get focus

Expected Results:
Firefox page loads, and should come to foreground, with focus
(this was reported from a second system, without the patch, in order to avoid the condition ... for now)
Severity: normal → minor
Version: unspecified → 2.0 Branch
This happens every time in Firefox 3.0.1, just as Sam Malenfant describes.
This may be related to:
"New window losing focus in 3.0.1 under Windows XP"
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446568

Only someone with more intimate knowledge could link 2.0.0.16 with 3.0.1 but descriptions suggest they may be related.
Depends on: 446568
The patch for bug 441120, which caused bug 446568, was also landed for Firefox 2.0.0.16.
