Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; m16) Gecko/20000613 BuildID: 2000061311 the <body background=... bgproperties=fixed> is ignored. It is not html- standard, but InternetExplorer standard since version 2.0. Many pages uses this feature. It would be better, if this feature is supported by mozilla too. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: open a page with <body .... bgproperties=fixed> :-) Actual Results: The Background is not fixed Expected Results: The background schould not scroll with the text (watermark) Internet explorer supportes this feature since version 2.0 <html> <body background="bg.gif" bgproperties=fixed> <p> Lots of text lines Lots of text lines Lots of text lines </p> </body> </html>
reporter please specify a dtd file that defines what this tag does. Is this part of HTML 4.0 I don't see it there.
This is INVALID because "bgproperties=fixed" is an IE non-standard extension. The same behaviour can be achieved using the 'background' property of CSS1, which has been a W3C recommendation since 1996. For example: body { background: black url(image.png) fixed center center no-repeat; } See http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/ for more details.

I agree. No need to add support for non-standard IE stuff when there's a correct solution (CSS) available.
