User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
When I start the browser, the location bar is blank and will remain blank even if I click a link and navigate away from the page. If I enter an address into the location bar, it stays exactly as I entered it, instead of auto-correcting or changing if I change the page. This occurs in Safe Mode as well.
Reproducible: Always

This bloke has it perfectly described. Please sort it out. I miss the FF3 add ons as now I have to use FF2 because of this bug.

They have released 3.0.3 and it still has the same bug. Please sort this out as I have to go back to 2 again.

Four **** versions later 3.0.3 and still the same critical bug with boasting for pages on menial ****.
I might have found the cause of this problem. When I start or restart my computer, and then start Firefox, everything works fine. But if I close it and then later restart the program, the location bar acts as described above. The cause seems to be that sometimes the process "firefox.exe" does not stop running when the program closes, which apparently does cause the location bar to bug upon reopening the program. The workaround for now, I guess, is to make sure the process ends when the program does by manually stopping it if necessary. At least, that's what works for me on my computer.

Still not working on 3.0.5

please check if safe mode allows your browser to close correctly (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode) since this could be caused by an add-on.
Also ensure your plugins (java, flash, wmp, quicktime and so on) are updated to latest version.
Your issue is most likely due to the hang process in memory.

also please report if you're using a security software that integrates with the browser or whatever you use as antivirus / firewall / antispyware

try looking at http://support.mozilla.com/kb/The+bookmarks+and+history+system+will+not+be+functional
if firefox.exe hangs in memory that could happen, the issue can be caused by third party security software or add-ons. We can't do much about that, but in 3.1 you'll be notified when that happens.
