User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fi; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9
Build Identifier: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0.1&os=linux&lang=fi for Linux and http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0.1&os=win&lang=fi for Windows builds
The page at the URL mentioned, http://rule34.paheal.net/tags (might need to try a few times to get a non-blank page, the server is unreliable), causes the browser (whole UI) to hang if any of the links is opened or type-ahead search is used. This isn't permanent, as the browser continues after several minutes of waiting; however, it happens again should you try to open any other link from the page.
I have tested this with both clean-install (no plugins, themes or extensions) and NoScript installed and set to block everything, on two different machines, one running Linux and one Windows XP. On the XP machine, the type-ahead search worked, but opening tabs still caused the problem.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the page (server unreliable, might need a few tries to get a non-blank one)
2a.If in Linux, use type-ahead search OR
2b.Open any of the links in a new tab in any OS
3.Browser hangs for several minutes
Actual Results:
The browser (all windows, all tabs, the whole UI) hangs.
Expected Results:
The type-ahead search works and the link opens in a new tab without hanging.
This has happened with every version from release candidates onward. I have tested it on two different machines, one running Windows XP and one Linux. It happens on both clean install with no extras (plugins, extensions or themes) installed and when keeping the old profile.
This is the major obstacle keeping me on FF2. I'm reporting it as "critical", because the majority of users would propably just count the browser as lost and kill it during the minutes-long hang, even thought it does in theory revive again.
