Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 This works fine for me.

Could you attach a screenshot of some text that does appear? Are you using a non-default font? Have you tried using safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
the first screen shot has "hi" typed in the search box. The second screen shot has "hi " typed in the box (hi with a space after it).
I have not changed any settings since upgrading to 3.0. I did not have this issue prior to upgrading.

Reporter, do you still see this behavior with Firefox 3.5.2? It works fine for me with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090808 Shiretoko/3.5.3pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) ID:20090808042506

I've updated to 5.0 a while back and I no longer have the problem.
