45580 - Dropdown list leaves a frame behind

Step to reproduce the bug:

1) start the browser (mozilla).
2) Go to any page with a dropdown dropdown list (www.altavista.com)
3) click on th dropdown list arrow.
4) click on any other region of the web page

Results:

It leaves a transparent box with a shaded frame. You have to click another time
in the area of the web page you were wishing to access.

Expected results

The dropdown list shoul dissapear completely and  the other part of the web page
should be accesed (example: being able to write in a text area).

I can't reproduce this on Linux Build 2000071408, and the reporter is using a
somewhat pre-historic build, so marking WFM.  Reporter, please get a recent
build from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly and give it a whirl.

a dup of 9808 really, and as far as the remaining outline of dropdown boxes are
concerned, this bug is active also in current builds.

Using Mozilla tip builds 2000-07-14 1PM Pacific Time on WinNT, Linux.

Confirming bug on Linux as stated by reporter. No problems on WinNT.
Reopening bug for further analysis. Since this is a browser issue and 
not JS Engine, changing component to Event Handling for triage.

Nominating for nsbeta3, polish issue.

It looks very unprofessional if we leave frames like that floating around. I
think this is also a feature that is used often: you click on a dropdown list to
see what is in there but you do not actually want to select anything yet.

[e-mail] says he has seen this work briefly in some build or maybe under
some special circumstances, so this might be a regression.
