Currently, the only way to access chat logs is to have openfire admin rights and search for them. It'd be nice to have a way to link directly to specific chats so that other people can access them (specifically devs looking for more info). This will also require that we make it VERY clear that these things are public and to obfuscate things like e-mail addresses. We'll also need a system whereby the public record can be edited by an admin in case someone DOES put their password into the chat window, the helper can alert an RM who can redact anything dangerous.
Is putting them public by default a good idea? We can make relevant ones public, or email them to devs. I don't think any of the devs would want to hunt through looking for relevant chats so we'd be the ones finding them anyway. In the mean time we can give admin rights to people who would be looking through them regularly. For the long term, I think the best solution is making certain areas of the admin panel available to users with special privileges without having to make them admins. I think posting relevant ones on a case by case basis somewhere public is going to end up in less work than having to censor all the transcripts (what if a helper forgets to alert an admin?)
