I am also looking for this necessary possibility between PC and IPod!!! Please, do something...
There's also bug 271240 for the same issue in iPod. Don't know if these bugs should be merged in one or keep them separate and create a new [META] one for tracking iPod & iPhone support. If a [META] bug is created, then these two can be depends of it.
Lets merge the two bugs, I believe the same framework is used.

Oh btw, iPhone 3.0 firmware will support CalDAV, so if you have a CalDAV server then its probably easier to sync over the air.
