I tried the folowing things :

- uninstall firefox 3.0.3 and install from scratch. Then recover my data with FEBE extension (data which where saved with my 3.0.1 firefox version).

All my passwords are still unknown...

Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure what retrieval-bug you are talking about, but if you have passwords that are using non-ascii characters, then you need to take a look at bug 454708 comment 26.
Jeanne, If you can still reproduce this, please enable debugging per
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:Password_Manager_Debugging and attach here.
This would be very helpful
Component: General → Password Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
QA Contact: general → password.manager
Version: 3.0 Branch → 1.9.0 Branch
Here is an analoguous bug being investigated.

It'd be usefull to compare debug output with signons.debug set to true.
Same problem with Firefox for Linux.

To fix temporarely:
Search signons3.txt file.
Save a copy of your signons3.txt file.
Run an editor as kwrite, gedit or vim (notepad.exe for M$Window$).
Set the editor with encoding as UTF-8.
Erase all characters that seem not have an encoding UTF-8 (garbage character).
Run again firefox.

To fix definitively :
As the sites messages which are recorded in signons3.txt can have any encoding and as this encoding can be wrong with wrong character, Firefox should be able to read all character, even bad character without problems or issues.

To confirm : after this fixing, it seems to me that Firefox 3.0.3 is no more very slowly! Fine! (Firefox 3.0.x were much slower than 2.x for me).
