My home page is set to google.ca and the language is specified as english in the Options menu. My husband has reported the same thing happening with his Mac. It started yesterday. I installed updates and it is still a problem. Google is using IP Geolocation, is it possible that you got an IP from your ISP that Google classify as french ? Do you get a french Google version if you open google.com ?

This should be marked as a duplicate of bug #426426 since it is about the bigger problem not per each locale, can someone please mark it if they agree.

Google will redirect you based on your IP, i get german results with my english Firefox because I have a german IP. I can only override this if I use the no redirect google plugin from http://mycroft.mozdev.org/ marking incomplete, never got a response
