this bug is about actually implementing the pref for feeds as set by the UI.  setting the UI right now doesn't change how a feed summary is presented; it's still according to the setting for non feed messages..

The reason why this bug should be resolved immediately is
the lack of 17.0.4 ESR, or said in other words it is the postponing TB release 17.0.4 (or the equivalent regular release)
for many days since 17.0.4 Firefox with a vulnerability patch had been released.

Per comment 0, we stopped halfway down the road when implementing this.
As a result, we're showing the rendering flavor prefs for RSS summaries (original|simple_html|plaintext), but clicking them has no effect whatsoever. Users have to go back to mailnews account, change rendering flavor there, then go back to feed account. :(

View > Feed Message Body As > ...

Paired with bug 550794, the UX in this corner is really confusing.

useless-ui resulting from partial implementation per comment 0 has just been fixed by bug 866498: changing the HTML rendering prefs from RSS summaries now toggles mailnews.display.html_as instead of doing nothing.
