1.) Login or enroll at the above site.
2.) Click on Request Certificates.
3.) Select a X.509 certificate for Netscape Communicator or Messenger.
What happens: Thawte returns an error stating "Browser is not Netscape KEYGEN
compatible."

There is nothing here that leads me to think Netscape6 KEYGEN doesn't work.
From your description it appears that Thawte just doesn't support Netscape6
enrollemnt, probably because they don't think it works yet. Send e-mail to the
people at thawte and let them know you're trying to enroll using Netscape6. If
they say that should work, then re-open this bug. Otherwise, I'm marking as
invalid.

Email has been sent - waiting for a reply. By the way, I can get a cert from
Verisign.

I spoke too soon about getting a cert from Verisign. More bug reports on the
way.

Here is the very helpful response I got from Thawte: " Thu, 20 July, 2000
vianv. Hi,I have also downloaded the Netscape 6 browser and was also unable to
request a email certificate. Now I think it is a bit early to request a
certificate, whether the browser is not compatible or not, I think it is still in
its early testing stages and that you should try the certificate request with an
earlier version.Thanks"

That's because they don't have candidate builds of PSM 1.2
It won't work without PSM 1.2

I'm seeing the same thing as when I opened the bug, and I'm using PSM build
..../20000719.1/blowfish_Win95/security/nsm/server/20000720/domestic/WIN954.0_OP

And you're seeing it because Thawte doesn't have Netscape6 listed as one of its
compatible browsers in their list. Lord sent mail to the president yesterday,
and I just sent him the user agent string. They'll add it shortly, I'll let you
know when Netscape6 is on the Thawte approved list.

I'm getting farther than before. I get as far as selecting the grade (1024K) of
cert desired, generate a key, but then instead of receiving a cert, the
following page from Thawte reads "Run Away, imposter." Linux and WinNT tested.

Thawte is looking into the problem.
This is the message I got.

Ahem. Yes. I have always been a bit creative on the error messages,
particularly those that aren't supposed to happen. Will dig in and see
what it's looking for in the morning.

Reopening. Even though this is Thawte's fault, I would like to be able to get a
Thawte cert before marking this fixed or invalid.

This should work now. Turns out we were always setting the value of challenge
to "challenge" instead of what was in the form.
