When Firefox prints a page, the fonts generally reflect the fonts of the
web page (at least they reflect whats seen on the screen when displaying
the page), but the layout is all wrong. This happens on all web pages
but is worst on the N.Y. Times, and it happens both in actual printouts
and in print preview, though not, as I wrote, when displaying the web
page itself Letters, frequently 'i's and 'o's to are displayed a little
to the right or left of where they ought to be. A small screenshot of
an example is attached.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter File->Print
2. Let printing take place
3. Look at the printed result
Actual Results:
Printing is ugly. See attached.
Expected Results:
Printing is beautiful
I'm not the only person to have seen this.

I see the same problem with FF 3.0 (3.0.5) on two different computers - Fedora 9/GNOME 2.22.3/Cairo 1.6.4 and CentOS 5.2/GNOME 2.16.2/Cairo 1.2.4. The print output is simply hideous, looks like severe problems with kerning. On-screen pages look relatively OK. I attach a few screenshots (preferences with the chosen font, on-screen view, printout view).

The printed-out page was produced through Cups-PDF, but the same effect is visible in direct printing. The same prpblem is seen irrespective of what language the page is in (well, at laest for a few European languages that I tested).

All has been done as requested and the problem remains. An additional example is attached with the title "More ugly printout" (attachment 481426 [details]).

That bug is fixed. And I do not see the described problem with http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/ when using current nightly build
