User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.17) Gecko/20080926 Galeon/2.0.4 Firefox/2.0.0.17 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.17) Gecko/20080926 Galeon/2.0.4 Firefox/2.0.0.17 Wrote a letter in gmail (a reply), attempted to <SEND> it, Firefox 3.0.3 core dumped. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Firefox, reload a large number of windows/tabs. 2.Read gmail. 3.Reply to letter, Firefox segfaults and core dumps. Actual Results: Firefox core dumps. Expected Results: Firefox should "work" when processing gmail replys. Detailed stack trace will be attached.
The firefox version (3.0.3) and many of the libraries it references are compiled with debugging enabled (-g2). The core dump is ~1.7 GB. I can turn over both the core dump and the firefox-bin binary if somebody can process them.
It is worth noting, that prior to the crash, the VT log for Firefox displayed: (firefox-bin:12691): Gdk-WARNING **: GdkWindow 0x3ebf68a unexpectedly destroyed Which begs back to the problem of Bug #263160, which after 4 years has still, to the best of my knowledge, not been resolved! Note, I do not know how much prior to the Seg-Vio crash the above message appeared. I will simply note that Gmail is prone to producing such messages (presumably because the Gmail javascript is playing fast and loose with the displayed windows).

Works for me, Firefox 3.0.3 (from mozilla.com) on Linux (Ubuntu 8.04). Robert, can you reproduce the crash in the official Mozilla build: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ If so, please submit the crash data and let us know the crash ID: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Mozilla+Crash+Reporter

Robert, please respond to comment 3.
In my opinion, it may be impossible to reproduce the Seg-Vio bug in an existing version of FF. I did however encounter the problem several days later, again in Gmail. I have believe I have the core dump from that situation as well. So in order to diagnose this problem, one has to provide an upload area for both the core-dumps and the binaries (of firefox-bin). It should be noted that the FF version being run was compiled with debugging enabled (-g2) -- As were the libraries it was run with. So the recreation of a "pristine" environment is next to impossible.
Robert, please attach your .mozconfig file and let us know the exact version of all gtk/gdk libraries involved in your environment. Please also list all extensions/plug-ins you're using.

This is being marked as a duplicate of Bug #467744 which contains a bit more information. I have experienced at least 4 different Firefox 3.0.3pre SegVio crashes in the last ~1.5 months. To the best of my knowledge they all involve deleting and/or redrawing a window and often directly follow a <SEND> in gmail.
