Using 7/21 commercial build on NT
1. Use Send Page to mail yourself a large web page (my example was from cnn.com)
2. Download the message over a slow link (I was using a 56k modem)
3. Realizing that the message will take a long time to download, click the Stop
button
Expected: message to stop downloading
Actual: message continues to download
While trying to experiment with ways to stop this download, I tried to delete ir
and click on other messages. After fooling around with it a little, I got into a
state where clicking on other messages didn't load them in the message pane.
Seeking to reset that situation, I closed the mail window, and crashed.
Do you have a talkback for the crash, Phil? We have a bug where deleting the
last mail message in the thread pane will get into a state where selecting a new
message will not display contents in the message pane and you'll get multiple
messages selected. Eventually a crash happens. Wanted to compare your stack
trace with that one.

Talkback and SERA seem not to play nicely, but I'll see what I can do

I got one talkback report filed but it doesn't contain a stack trace :-(
We need to try to reproduce this if possible.

second pass: - per mail triage
Peter - can you still try to reproduce to see if this is easy to reproduce.

Scott & Phil,
I could not reproduce this problem on my compaq laptop 566mhz over a 56k modem
connection running Windows ME. I sent myself the cnn web page and I was able to
cancel the download using the stop button the data transfer. I tried in the
message window and message pane.
The build that I was testing with was the branch commercial win32 build
2000-101213-mn6.

Esther, can we try to reproduce this again? If not can we mark WFM. This worked
for me, but I'll let someone else try it out. There's a possibility that in the
3 months between the time Phil reported the bug and pmock tested the bug that we
improved stopping display messages.

I will try this on the dial-up system in the lab and then again at home. It will
take at least the rest of the day to check this one out.

Using 6.01 on home dial up system 14,400bps I don't crash Stopping a download of
a Send CNN Page to my imap mail account. It's very slow, but the Stop did so
immediately. When I clicked on another msg (a simple one that had not been
opened before) it seemed to open up slower than I expected. I went to the cnn
mail msg several times and stopped the process. Again it stopped immediately,
but opening other mail messages appeared to be too slow. I will download a
more current daily build and try this again to see if the slowness problem
improves. I will try this again at work tomorrow on the dial up system to see
if I can get a crash.

Using 6.1 at work on a dial up system and again with lastest commercial build
with (20010221) dial-up system the Stop, stopped the download and I was able to
view other messages without crashing. I selected this cnn message several
times, stopping the download then selecting other messages still no crash or
failure to stop. I believe this is worksforme now and will mark it and verify
it. Phil if you experience this again or think it's not fixed please reopen and
comment.
