Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 After upgrade to 3.0.3, when an existing Firefox window is displayed in reduced size, double clicking any new URL shortcut on the desktop opens the resulting new Firefox window behind the existing window. After roll back to 3.0 without updates the new window opens normally on top as it always has. Have also tested on an XP SP3 PC with identical results. Can replicate the problem 100% on both machines. Re-install the 3.0.exe and new window opens on top normally...add update beyond 3.0 and any new window from a desktop shortcut link opens in background. Firefox has never done this before. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open FF, Restore Down to small window so that additional desktop URL shortcut link is visible. 2.Double click the link. 3. Actual Results: New Firefox window opens in the background, behind the existing window. Expected Results: Historically, up through Ver 3.0 without updates, the second window appears on top of first existing window.
I'll confirm this bug as stated. It occurs on 3 (or more) Windows computers in our household. It's a big time-waster.
Apparently this bug's problem as I reported here has been resolved with the resolution of Bug 446568 effective with 3.0.9. At least this is the case for my Windows XP SP3 machine and my Vista Home Premium SP1 both of which exhibited the reported symptoms running any update above the Base 3.0 version. In spite of what I thought was extensive Bugzilla searching, I missed seeing Bug 446568, opened months before this report, which described the exact symptoms I was reporting...sorry for the Dupe and I'm now happy to be able to upgrade beyond 3.0.
