Loading the testcase triggers three assertions: ##!!! ASSERTION: undisplayed content must have a parent: 'parent', file /Users/jruderman/central/layout/base/nsFrameManager.cpp, line 589 ###!!! ASSERTION: element not in the document: 'doc', file /Users/jruderman/central/layout/base/nsChildIterator.cpp, line 62 ###!!! ASSERTION: Reparenting something that has no usable parent? Shouldn't happen!: 'Not Reached', file /Users/jruderman/central/layout/base/nsFrameManager.cpp, line 958 The second and third assertions also appear in bug 429623, but that bug's testcase requires privs to GC.

This is very likely to be the same issue as what I describe in bug 495354.
