User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081116 Minefield/3.1b2pre Build Identifier: Every time I try to build using mozilla-build 1.3, sh.exe will crash. It crashes at random times, not always in the same spot. I do not have the Logitech camera installed, so that's not the problem. Here's an example of what happens when I try to build: $ make -w -f client.mk build make: Entering directory `/c/Thunderbird/comm-central' Adding client.mk options from /c/Thunderbird/comm-central/.mozconfig: MOZ_OBJDIR=$(TOPSRCDIR)/../objdir-tb MOZ_MAKE_FLAGS=-j4 MOZILLA_OFFICIAL=1 0 [main] sh 4120 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to sh.exe.stackdu mp make[1]: Entering directory `/c/Thunderbird/comm-central' cd /c/Thunderbird/comm-central/../objdir-tb /c/Thunderbird/comm-central/configure 0 [main] sh 20040 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to sh.exe.stackd ump Adding configure options from /c/Thunderbird/comm-central/.mozconfig: loading cache ./config.cache configure: error: can not run /c/Thunderbird/comm-central/mozilla/ build/autoconf /config.sub *** Fix above errors and then restart with "make -f client.mk buil d" make[1]: *** [configure] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/c/Thunderbird/comm-central' make: *** [/c/Thunderbird/comm-central/../objdir-tb/Makefile] Error 2 make: Leaving directory `/c/Thunderbird/comm-central' I'm not the only one, see my thread at mozilla.dev.builds: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.builds/browse_thread/thread/32409248a3b05d9c Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Attempt to make source. Actual Results: sh.exe crashes at random. Expected Results: Thunderbuild should have built. This problem went away as soon as I uninstalled Google Desktop. Quitting Google Desktop and its various daemons was not sufficient. I had to actually uninstall it. This might be a MinGW problem, but figured I'd report it here first.

Seems likely that Google Desktop is interfering with the way msys operates. Not much we can do about that on our end. You can try to get the MSYS developers to fix it (but the project is not very active right now), or you can ask the Google Desktop developers if they have any ideas. If you determine a more feasible workaround, we can definitely get it listed in a FAQ somewhere.
I'm going to confirm this. It seems different from Bug #417640 which appears to be a Logitech Webcam issue. However, I'm wondering if both these bugs are the same issue within MSYS? And yes, I started getting this after installing Google Desktop.

This seems more like a mozilla build issue as opposed to an app/build config issue, though I'm not sure there's anything we can do about it looking at the comments.

I don't think there's anything we can do about this, but I'd love to be proven wrong. We should at least get Google Desktop added to a build FAQ somewhere.

I have Google Desktop installed and constantly crashed in sh.exe such that I couldn't get past the configuration stage, let alone the compile stage. The crashes went away when I replace the msys-1.0.dll file that came with MozBuild 1.3, with the one available on the following page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2435&package_id=24963&release_id=46827 They both have the same version and file sizes, but are not the same.
The replacement msys-1.0.dll fixed it for me as well.
