Right now I have to do an Alt+Tab while dragging the tab to put it in another window. This is in Vista. Littlemutt: "Yes, confirmed on Vista HP SP1, hidden taskbar will not arise....I suspect that the dragged image extending below the cursor is not allowing the cursor to get low enough to trigger the un-hide maybe." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set the Windows Taskbar to "auto-hide" 2. Attempt to drag a tab to the taskbar 3. Taskbar won't un-hide 4. Browser window disappears so you can't select another window to put it in Actual Results: Taskbar won't un-hide. Browser window disappears so you can't select another window to put it in. Other windows on the taskbar would pop-up even if the taskbar doesn't un-hide. Expected Results: Taskbar un-hides and you can drop the "torn" tab into another Shiretoko window. Discussion of this one started at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=979295&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&sid=1d403e25a463d2afac7b0f9fdf98d4ff

Means it is a regression against Firefox 3.0.x?
(In reply to comment #4) > Means it is a regression against Firefox 3.0.x? Hmm, nope. Not from 3.0.4 at least.

I investigated this a bit more and this one might be indeed a Vista bugger and not Firefox related at all, to confirm: 1. Set the Windows Taskbar to "auto-hide" 2. Attempt to drag any file from Windows Explorer to the taskbar 3. Taskbar won't un-hide Other windows on the taskbar would pop-up even if the taskbar doesn't un-hide. Anyone with friends in Redmond? =P

Alex, you should try to move the mouse while dragging the the lower right or left corner of your screen. If you are over the start button or the tray area the taskbar will un-hide and you can select the other browser window. Then dropping the tab to that window works fine for me with Firefox 3.1 beta 2. That way Firefox even has a better support on Windows than Internet Explorer who isn't able to un-hide the taskbar. Finally I also believe this is an OS issue which will make this bug invalid.

Henrik, Thanks. You're right it seems that in Vista only the "Notification Area" and the "Start Balloon" areas would un-hide the Taskbar(this would be a Vista bug IMHO). Yet on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20081207 Shiretoko/3.1b3pre ID:20081207035151 if I drag a Shiretoko tab to the taskbar via the above mentioned areas and hover over another Shiretoko taskbar button the Shiretoko window won't show so I can drop the tab on it. Maybe this is a regression from Firefox 3.1 beta 2 then and hence a valid bug.

(In reply to comment #11) > Kurt, what doesn't work for you? Dragging a tab to the task bar. Only areas that unhide it are the start button area and the notification area. Same thing happens with 3.0.4

Same thing happens with 3.0.4 I claimed this as not a Firefox issue, this seem to be a Vista bug; to confirm please try to replicate what's outlined on comment #6 if you can then we can tag this to Vista.

I confirm the STR in comment #6. This bug should stay open until it is fixed by Microsoft. This is what has usually been done in the past.

fwiw, this wfm with windows 7 build 6959 with str in comment #1. str in comment #6 had different behavior, dnd file to taskbar, windows will not open the file but it will pin the default application for that type of file to the taskbar (similar to pinning apps to start menu on vista and older version of windows) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081214 Minefield/3.2a1pre ID:20081214154702

I think the Vista part now works, I dunno if Microsoft fixed it or it was my change to "Windows Classic" theme but the task bar now un-hides all across the screen. I think this needs to morph int a Minefield bug again as dragging a "teared tab" over Minefield's "taskbar buttons" won't maximize the Minefield windows; all other windows maximize just fine. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.3a4pre) Gecko/20100318 Minefield/3.7a4pre ID:20100318040011

I think that's a different bug. I can reproduce on Win XP. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a4pre) Gecko/20100321 Minefield/3.7a1pre

Can someone confirm? Perhaps "[Windows Bug]" should be removed and platforms updated...
