467998 - Firefox 3 consumes far more memory than FF2 on Skyfire's start page

Steps to reproduce:
(1) Visit http://staging-up.skyfire.com in a fresh FF3 profile.
(2) Observe Firefox's memory consumption in the task manager for ten minutes.

In FF2, I notice memory consumption remains nearly constant - perhaps creeping up a little.

In FF3, I observed memory consumption initially at 31MB, then jumping up to 48MB a few minutes later.  After about 10 minutes, some FF3.0.4 instances would show 51.4MB+ and rising.

Filing as Firefox: General, pending triage.  I'm not sure yet if this is a real leak or simply the webpage storing excessive references.

Still need to watch the page to see if the memory is growing, but wanted to see what / how the page is supposed to look.

That looks right.  The lower right corner is also present in FF2.0.0.18 and
FF3.0.4, and is there for our debugging use.  (Users of our client never see
it.)

I don't see any shutdown leaks (using XPCOM_MEM_LEAK_LOG) nor
any other kind of leak on trunk/OSX. I should try 1.9.0.x

about:blank shows similar memory bloating - see bug 468003.
