Which Firewall are you using, Zonealarm ?
And I'm a little bit confused, you mean that the process doesn't close, right ?
>Help please!
Don't expect help here ! Bugzilla is not for support and we have http://support.mozilla.com for that.

I am using Zonealarm.
Yes, the process does not close, but remains in memory (56K or so) after the program has exited. The only way to clear it from memory is to reboot; the task manager will not close it.

You can always kill a userspace process with the taskmanager except it hangs in the kernel mode. This is no Firefox issue bcause firefox doesn't come with kernel mode drivers, it's a bug in the Zonealarm kernel mode driver.
Only deinstalling (not disabling) ZA can help or ZA release a new bugfix.

You are right, Matti. I uninstalled Zonealarm, and am now using PCTools free
firewall program. No more problems with Firefox, and the computer seems to be running faster as well. Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas! John

I now have a response from ZA Support and it may depend on the used version (could be a bug in older ZA versions) or it could be corrupt ZA settings.
But you switched and don't need the instructions from their support that could fix this issue....
I'm glad you fixed your issue yourself and that you didn't used Bitdefender as replacement because their Firewall breaks Firefox Form Uploads :-)
All this Firewall products are getting worse after they started to add thousand of features....
Merry Chrismas !
