User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 In 3.1 (this behavior was not present in 3.0), dragging and dropping URLs from Firefox to Adium copies the URL into the chat window with a font other than the font set for the chat (in the accompanying movie, the URL above the one used to demonstrate the problem is correctly shown in the selected font in Adium prefs, as is the visible IM above that link). It also copies the URL, but that's not such a big deal. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See attached movie for demonstration of how to reproduce this. Expected Results: Dragging and dropping shouldn't include any style info, as recipients of the messages often prefer receiving only text/HTML links so that they can see their own message style. Links should be treated as they were in Firefox 3.0.x, at least with regards to fonts if not with regards to titles as well (a link reading "Next-Gen Dashboards Teach Leadfoots How to Hypermile", the page title, instead of just the URL). This seems to be a regression. Worked fine, now it doesn't.

I have a hunch this change in behavior may have been triggered by the patch for bug 428096 (landed on 2008-11-06 around 5pm PST). If I'm right, the 2008-11-06 mozilla-central nightly won't have this problem, but the 2008-11-07 nightly will have it. Please download these nightlies and test for this: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2008/11/2008-11-06-02-mozilla-central/firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.mac.dmg ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2008/11/2008-11-07-02-mozilla-central/firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.mac.dmg Even if I'm right, though, this may be an Adium bug.
You're right -- I see this on the 7th Nov nightly but not the 6th Nov nightly. I'm not sure that it's Adium as it worked fine for all this time, then suddenly broke, and now seems to be tied to a particular Firefox bug...

What happens when you do the same thing from Safari, or Opera, or Camino?
I only have Safari installed, but it works normally there (page title, no font change).

Moreover, this bug sounds like a dup of bug 467861.
I looked, and it may well be -- added a comment there directing people to look at the demo movie here. I also want to stress that the same font doesn't always appear -- with links from, say, NYTimes, the font is very big, but some sites result in very tiny text that's hard to read.
