User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 All live bookmarks in Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 build a list that does not clear out the old live book mark information. The new is just added on top of the old. My book marks are now over 100 entries instead of the normal 8 from the above site. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just let live bookmark autoload several times. 2. 3. Actual Results: The live book mark is cumulative of all refreshed information Expected Results: Only the most recent RSS information should appear.
this the second report, anyone can confirm if this is an issue on PPC only? Do you see this issue in safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
Summary: Livebook mark contains all book marks loaded not just the most recent → Live bookmark folder contains old entries and not just the most recent
wfm on intel mac.
Yes, it behaves in the same incorrect fashion in "safe" mode. However, with me, the behaviour differs from Alexander's description ... I don't get any new items. Just the same old ones, repeated many times.
This wfm on both intel mac 10.4 and ppc mac 10.4
A suspicion. Normally, when I'm finished, I quit all my open applications. This morning, I left Firefox running and just closed the lid on my laptop. When I came back tonight, I opened up the lid, used Firefox to check a few things, and then clicked on one of my RSS feeds in the Bookmarks toolbar. TADA -- they had ALL been updated, and the multiple copies of old items were gone. So, as an experiment, I quit Firefox, launched it again, and TADA -- I was back where I started this morning ... all RSS feeds showing old items, multiple times. It is almost as if I were running in "Private Browsing" mode ... except, I am not. However, when I first upgraded to 3.1b2, I did try out "Private Browsing" mode, but then I reverted back to normal mode a few minutes later. It is almost as if something to do with the RSS feeds thinks I'm still in "Private Browsing" mode.
can you create new bookmarks and closing/reopening the browser are they saved?
Yes; I can create them, and they are still there afer closing/reopening.
I had this until today, even after deleting and re-adding the RSS feed. It started when the builds shifted to Shiretoko branding, but I can't say precisely when as I hadn't updated for a few days previous. I found that right clicking on the feed button and reloading it would make the problem go away temporarily, but if I quit and restarted, suddenly I'd have an enormous number of repeated bookmarks again. I (i) updated to the latest build and (ii) deleted the rss feed and added it again (BBC News). Not sure which fixed it, since I did both at the same time, but it seems to be stable (at least for now).
I spoke too soon. It's still broken. Mac PPC build: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20081227 Shiretoko/3.1b3pre It doesn't even require a restart: STR: 1. Add a RSS feed to your toolbar. I use BBC News 2. Open the browser and right click on the RSS feed button and reload it, just to be sure it's working fine at the start 3. Click on the RSS feed and observe it looks normal 4. Open a new browser window. Click on the RSS feed on the new toolbar and observe it is overloaded with repeat headings, even though the one in the original window is still good 5. Restart the browser and observe the RSS feed is now broken for all windows
