With the patch on bug 429350 existing tags can be deleted in the left pane column of the library. That works well on Windows for the context menu of the tag and the organize dropdown in the toolbar. On OS X it's only possible via the context menu. Using the organizer dropdown in the toolbar results in no action. The error console doesn't show up any error.

What makes me wonder is that the menu entries of the organizer drop down menu are stripped down to only 5 entries while on Windows these are 12 ones. Probably a failure in initializing the drop down menu?

The same issue can be seen with the latest Gran Paradiso build.

Steps:
1. Add a new bookmark and tag it with "test"
2. Open Library and select the tag in the left column list
3. Open the organizer drop down menu on the toolbar
4. Select Delete

With step 4 the selected tag should be deleted. Currently nothing happens on OS X. Even a lot of entries are missing which makes this button more than useless.

I see that your steps work on Windows (in today's Minefield and
Shiretoko nightlies), and that they don't work on OS X.

But (interestingly) all the items in the organizer drop-down menu are
greyed-out (in step 3) on the trunk. They're not greyed-out on the
1.9.1 branch.

This leads me to suspect that the bug (or bugs) are not at the Cocoa
widgets level, but somewhere higher up.

I also see that the organizer drop-down menu is shorter on OS X than
it is on Windows. On Windows it contains the following items (not all
of them active):

New Bookmark
New Folder
New Separator
------------
Cut
Copy
Paste
Undo
Redo
------------
Select All
------------
Move
Delete
------------
Close

On OS X it contains the following items:

New Bookmark
New Folder
New Separator
------------
Move
Delete

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
