For lack of a better description. The Support forum <http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=1> has one thread on Dec18, then the next ones are Dec8 and prior. (nothing between Dec9 and Dev17). I assume the Dec18 post was after this bug occurred. Go to the Contributors forum <http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=3>. The latest posts are from April and March.

This is not a data loss problem. It is to do with sort mode I think.

The first part of the patch is apparently necessary, otherwise the returned results are returned in all sorts of unpredictable order. The second part just makes things consistent with what they were, to allow for custom sort mode. In our case there should be no difference. Not sure if this solves the problem completely. Please check. (I am still downloading a new db dump to be able to test).

Has this already been tested in staging? Is it ready to go to prod (checked into svn, etc)?

Both sides evolved on this one. From the code base, I would assume this one was fixed. Might need more verification, but my tests indicate that sorting works properly.
