Summary: I need this programm for developing webpages → selfhtml offline is not to be opened with Firefox3.0.5
Don't expect that anyone knowns what selfhtml is.
Selfhtml is a html reference that can be downloaded for offline use.

I can see this issue with FF3.0.5 but it works with Seamonkey trunk.
Summary: selfhtml offline is not to be opened with Firefox3.0.5 → Search in selfhtml offline version doesn't work with Firefox 3.0.5
Works here, online/offline, from c:\ and over localhost, no problems.

beho, would you mind trying it in a new profile as well?
see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
Sorry my english is not so good.
But it not running in the German version of Firefox.
Even a german co administrator of the forum did figure this out.
I want to submit this to the Mozilla administration, but dont know how
I reproduced it, i don't know which build Daniel S used that he can not reproduce this.

You submitted it already to the right place, the mozilla administration doesn't fix bugs.
The search itself works in the online version and it also does work in the offline version in the trunk as I already explained.

To get this fixed on the 3.0.X branch the exact issue must be identified. This can be done either with try and error in the code or if you find a fix range for the trunk. If you know which bug fixed this on the trunk you can ask to get this fixed on the branch.

Maybe this fix will be in 3.0.6 then but that's unlikely because 3.0.6 will mostly only get security bugs.

I suggest that you try Firefox3.1b2 instead.

Sorry, I also used Firefox 3.0.5, german locale fwiw.
I can reproduce this issue with FF3.0.5 (safemode/new profile) and it works on the trunk (SM)

Are you sure Daniel S. that this works on your windows system with selfhtml812 and FF3.0.5 with file:// ?

I was really sure, but I tested it again and didn't work. Guess that's enough confirmation for now. - Sorry for bugspam.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
confirming means that you also have to try to find a good component for it, Firefox as product is for example wrong for all bugs related to content.
A minimized testcase would be nice or an alternative would be to find the bug that fixed it on the trunk or to find the bug that regressed it on the 3.0x branch.
So far I can tell that this affects the whole 1.9.0 branch.

upgrade von 2,0 auf 3,0
(In reply to comment #6)
it´s not running with a new profile eather
Search was broken in 2008-11-18-03-mozilla-central
-> http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/2d4ddc92e47d
WFM in 2008-11-19-07-mozilla-central
-> http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/0cd41f599080

So it was fixed by one of these bugs:
http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=2d4ddc92e47d&tochange=0cd41f599080
hmm, could it be bug 445004 ?
Possible, if this only shows up for file:// URIs.
Depends on: 445004

Thanks Daniel for finding the regression range !
Thanks for the answers too.
But I still dont know what to do, because i am not a expert.
I am a little confused about all these comments.
Is there not a simple ay to handle with this problem?

This issue is solved for us because it's fixed in the source.
You can either use Firefox3.1 Beta 2 or wait for 3.0.7 (not .6 !) or Firefox3.1

Please do not reopen this bug, thanks
