User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121621 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121621 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.5 I have spent quite a few hours looking for a way to prevent some personal data (such as credit card numbers) to be saved in Firefox. I have browsed forums, raised a forum thread and also did have a look on about half a dozent Add-Ons. After going through all that, I'd say: Apparently, there is no way a) for a site- or string-based exception for the save form data feature. So I'd be great if neither information is stored at some-bank.com, nor any string containing, say, "2208" (because it is part of a credit card number) b) to have a look on saved form data. Something like for the saved passwords dialog would work great for form data as well. I'd just like to make sure, for example, that there is no trace of my credit card number stored in my Firefox. And if there was, I would like to delete it with hitting DEL once. I am aware that I could disable the entire save form data thing. I also know that I could have all entered information deleted at the end of the session (or manually delete it). And yes, there is a way to delete form information by hitting DEL -- but that requires that specific site to be visited. There is also a way to make a one-time-exception for a form (by pressing CTRL, if I remember correctly). I do also understand that numerous people have raised concerns on encryption, auto-detection of credit card numbers ...... here, but that is all not my point. All I have in mind is a very simple, leightweight and easy-to-use form data management for Firefox, just like the system that is already in place for passwords. I know that there are quite a few great form management add-ons, but neither of them seems to provide a simple way to manage stored form data. (Form History Manager did worke great for that part, but it is no longer maintained.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See above. Expected Results: A simple manager for saved form data -- just like the one for passwords -- would be great. I do not suggest to introduce a feature-loaded form data manager to the browser core. All a built-in form data manager should do is a) provide a simple interface to define which forms/fields/values should never be saved ("never store form information from URL ...", "never store form information containing the following strings: ...") b) give an insight into stored form data (domain-based tree view), including a simple search (for URLs and strings) It's pretty much equal to what we already have in the browser for passwords, just for form data.
