This bug has been created because Bug 400491 is obselete. Currently, shift+middle-clicking-on-a-folder no longer represents a proper feature of Firefox. Right now it is doing some kind of "replace the first tab, append the selected folder's contained links next to the first tab, and leave the other, prior existing tabs appended to the end of those". It would instead be consistent to have it initiate the same functionality as right-clicking on a folder, holding down shift, and then left-clicking on "Open All in Tabs", which opens all tabs in a new window. If you don't have a middle click button to test this bug, you can instead open two non-blank tabs, then select the first tab, and finally, press ctrl+shift+left-click-on-a-folder to have Firefox present the same buggy behavior.
Rick's Bug 452183 is similar to this bug, but not necessarily a duplicate.
Depends on: 452183
Blocks: cuts-cruft
No longer blocks: cuts-cruft
in firefox 29 this no longer overwrites the first tab AFAICT. can the OP please reassess?
