It would be interesting to have a virtual calendar defined whose entries are obtained from all the existing real calendars using a set of user selected tags/categories and/or search criteria.

This can be supplemented with multiple tags/categories in Lightning. Currently Thunderbird only has options for single categories in calendar events/tasks. It would help if users can have multiple tags/categories. Also having the search that allows users to search based on specific tags will help.

Something like this will be very helpful in preparing a journal(essentially a list of completed events with appropriate notes which user considers important enough to have a separate additional record) on a daily basis.

Reproducible: Always

In future, please file Calendar/Lightning bugs under the calendar product (and search there for possible existing bugs).

Sounds like a great idea, but for this to be performant enough, we need to have gloda indexing for calendar items. See related bug 461032.
