User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
Even if the option "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is unchecked, the browser still switches to the new tab if this is opened by a link from the Bookmarks Menu.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mozilla Firefox and go to Tools->Options...->Tabs and uncheck the option "When I open a link in a new tab, swicth to it immediately".
2. Go to View->Sidebar and check Bookmarks.
3. Expand the Bookmarks Menu, right click on a link, and select "Open in a New Tab" (If you don't have any links in the Bookmarks Menu add one such as Google).
Actual Results:
The browser switched to the newly opened tab.
Expected Results:
The browser should have opened the new tab while remaining focused on the current tab.

Type about:config in your locationbar and press enter, then double-click on browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground
Does this solve your problem?

If you think both options should be controlled by the same preference, this bug is a duplicate of Bug 469456. See also Bug 295098.

Thank you and yes, it solves the problem. However I don't think that the regular user should be asked to get his/hers fingers dirty with such advanced settings, not to mention the fact that the regular user has little way of knowing that those settings even exist.
