User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; sv-SE; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; sv-SE; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081201 Firefox/3.1b2 When opening a link in a new tab, the new tab has the same zoom level as the tab it was opened from. However, in private mode, the new tabs have always the default zoom (100%). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to e.g. http://www.pacificnanotech.com/gallery.html 2. Zoom in to e.g. 200% 3. Open one of those gallery link in a new tab In normal mode, the new tab is 200% In private mode, the new tab is 100% Actual Results: In private mode, links in new tabs have always the default zoom Expected Results: In private mode, links in new tabs should have the same zoom level as the site it was opened from
Confirmed on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090201 Minefield/3.2a1pre , but it doesn't seem surprising to me. For privacy reasons it doesn't write these data to the profile, I think.

Uhu, so this is actually a wanted behaviour? Alot of people use private mode to view "certain galleries". Some of them have small images. Its a pain in the ass to view those galleries, when you constantly have to zoom in new tabs.
Summary: In private mode, zoom-level in new tabs are always 100% regardless of previous tab → In private mode, zoom in new tabs are always 100% regardless of previous tab
This is the expected behavior as stated by Ria in comment 1. We don't want to save a site-specific zoom setting, because in that case it would be possible to infer a website visited from the private browsing mode by examining the profile. -> INVALID.
