Just doing some tests for an add-on I'm writing, I noticed sometimes tabs kept what was last shown in the private browsing mode. STR that don't always work.. 1) Open a site like gmail (some sites seem to always work correctly.. try https) 2) cmd-shift-p to start private browsing 3) cmd-shift-p to quit private browsing expected: gmail actual: about:privatebrowsing page There's some oddities when the problem does trigger as well. Sometimes it shows gmail's url in the location bar but shows the private browsing page. Othertimes it shows about:privatebrowsing when leaving private browsing. The really odd thing here is if you keep refreshing (10+ times) that incorrectly shown "about:privatebrowsing" page (now outside of private browsing), it eventually loads the correct page. I tested this on a new profile as well to make sure it wasn't my addon doing strange stuff.

Yeah, that makes sense. After thinking about that I highly suspect this is a dupe of bug 463256. Gmail always uses a SSL connection.

Yes, it looks like a dupe of bug 463256. Can you please test with the patch in that bug to see if it resolves this issue? BTW, have you noticed this with non-SSL sites as well?
