i had an folder on my desktop accessible for my user, but only root can create new files/direcotries (drwxr-xr-x owned by root:root).
when i tried to download a file and save it into the directory, the save as window goes away like normal, but no notice was displayed that the download successfully finished. a check in the directory revealed that the file hadn't be downloaded, but there was no information about insufficient permissions in the download-folder.
greetings,
steve
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. on ubuntu 8.10 create folder e.g. on the desktop and set the rights to drwxr-xr-x, owner root, group root
2. download a file into the directory (for you got read-permissions)
3. file will not be downloaded, no notice is displayed that the write permissions are missing
Expected Results:
display a notice-window to inform me of insufficient write-permissions on the folder to which i want to download something
