Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009020911 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Firefox/3.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009020911 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Firefox/3.0.6

Each time firefox is opened in Ubuntu 8.10 and Bookmarks are opened it wants to bookmark the home page or where ever it is at the time. Dbl. clicking fills the bookmaks up in no time.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firefox
2.Click Bookmarks
3.Click Bookmarks
Actual Results:
New and undesired Bookmark

Expected Results:
to be able to use my Bookmarks

I reported this on the Ububtu Tech List and others are having the same problem.
I also have this problem, but have occasionally noticed it effects other menus as well.. If you click on the file menu it often immediately opens a new window before I have had chance to move the mouse or release the mouse button.

The problems only seem to occur when Firefox has only just been recently started. If I type an address, create a new tab, enter tools menu, or perform some other menu task, the "book mark this page" problem seems less likely to occur.

PS: I notice "Book mark this page" and "new window" are both the first item on their respective menus, could that hold any relevance in the issue?

(BTW: Using firefox 3.0.6 and Ubuntu 8.10)
