(Whiteboard: DUPEME?)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
FIREFOX OVERLAPS WEB PAGE TEXT ON MANY WEB SITES.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install any version of Firefox.
2. Follow instructions for fixing "Overlapping" (google it)
3. Surf the web.
Actual Results:
The same thing that happens all the time. "Overlapping pages on "many" web sites"
Yes, I have done everything possible and recommended to rectify the issue.
Yes, IE will display those sites perfectly every time!
Expected Results:
I thought it could be fixed. Like I said, the sites are viewed properly in IE.
Why is Firefox unable to do the same?
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE show the web pages properly.
Yes, I know that IE does a much better job of displaying poorly written web pages BUT the world is not perfect and someone needs to adapt.
Might I suggest that Firefox does? Add a fix, plug-in, or whatever is required to view the pages IE views properly BUT with Firefox.
I don't think that's asking too much.
Unless Mozilla is willing to train proper HTML to every coder in the world, this needs to be fixed!

Can you please give a site that shows this issue in Firefox safe mode? I am not seeing any problems while browsing, so we need wither a testcase or a link that shows this.
Severity: major → normal
Summary: FIREFOX OVERLAPS WEB PAGE TEXT. → Web pages overlap
Version: unspecified → 3.0 Branch

I do not see any problems there in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090307 Minefield/3.2a1pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) ID:20090307035349. Can you give a screenshot?

This site suffers from bug 63895.
Please don't add a comment to that bug if you're not able to fix it, the bug is already known among developers and needs no further confirmation. Thanks.
If other yites you visit suffer from the same bug, this should be marked as a dupe.

I'm sorry but it's hard not to add a comment to a problem that's over 8 years old.
It's obvious that the "site" does NOT suffer from any bug and that Firefox has a problem. If you would like more examples, see any site produced with Web Studio 4.
I'm not the only user who has this problem with Firefox. I've done enough searches to know that.
Do you expect that after 8 years of complaints, someone will look into fixing it?
If not, just post it here and I'll go elsewhere.
I have no allegiance to any developer who will not fix his software.

By telling you that "this site suffers from bug 63895" I meant that this is a bug within Mozilla and that's why the problem appears on that page.
Do you experience this problem with sites that are not created by Studio 4?

Look, I told you not to comment on that bug because commenting on such bugs has only a negative effect on the problem. It annoys developers, because the bug is already known and confirmed to be a bug. When the devs got the time, they're going to fix it. No need to stress them.
BTW, other browsers have problems of that age as well. Not the same ones, but we're really no bad guys.

If no one was willing to fix that bug, the report would've been closed. It's definitely going to be fixed.

Sorry, the next part is advocacy:
> I have no allegiance to any developer who will not fix his software.
Do you use the software mentioned above, Studio 4?
If yes, you should be aware that this software is not able to comply to a specification released 10 years ago: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.webstudio.com&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0
I resolve this bug as adupe of bug 63895 because no further problematic pages have been provided.
