stephend mentioned that this probably works on 10.4 and might only be a 10.5 bug but I will check for sure.

I just confirmed that this works correctly using the same build in Comment 0 running on 10.4.11.
Also on 10.5 the name "TextEdit" appears correctly in preferences.
