When viewing videos the screensaver should not start at all - this should be true for videos handled by firefox itself (<video>), for videos handled by plugins (quicktime, etc.) and for flash videos (e.g. youtube).

We definitely want this for full-screen videos (bug 517870).  But I'm not sure we want it for other videos, since those are as likely to be advertisements as main content.

Screen savers themselves might be pointless nowadays, but our decision also affects security (auto-locking is often tied to screensavers) and power consumption (since we'd disable display sleep and computer sleep too).

Good point. Still there are some scenarios where this won't work e.g. 
- if you want to show a video of a speech alongside the slides of the speech
- if you want to show two videos at the same time - e.g. separate video for language signs
- if you want to show a video and one or more canvases displaying other data (e.g. the shuttle lift-off demo)
I recognize that those are minor cases, but they should be still taken into account.

I'm not in love with this solution, but how about a context menu item on video elements that disables the screen saver during playback of a particular video instance?
