User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; GTB5; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; InfoPath.2) Build Identifier: http://Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090108 Eudora/3.0b1pre Definitely weird that nobody reported this previously. It's blatant on my machine, which has 210,000 messages. If "enable message indexer" is set, some mailboxes produce an houglass interminably. This is intermittent, sometimes fixed by restarting Eudora. Still occurs if I inactivate X1 or other search software. Uncheck the box (tools / options / advanced), and all is sweetness & light. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to open a mailbox by clicking in the mailbox window 2. 3. Actual Results: Watch the hourglass. Get coffee. Still there. Expected Results: Show have opened the mailbox and showed messages. Show have opened the mailbox and showed messages.
I THINK this is related to 459910 so I am marking it as a duplicate of that bug. If you think this is not a duplicate, please let me know. Matt

Different bug, in my untotuored opinion. 1. I run XP, not Vista 2. Only Eudora hangs, not the OS; and only partially. It hangs at the point where the status bar would read, "Building summary file for . . .". But the message never appears, instead the hourglass. Temporarily banishing X1 (6.2) from the computer may have solved the problem; I don't have time to chase this rigorously. The most likely hypothesis is that a possibly corrupt X1 may be locking the mailbox or summary file. Further bulletins as events warrant.
OK, re-opening as non-duplicate. Matt

Are you still seeing this now that all the indexed search changes have been integrated? Thanks, Matt
I'm assuming that no news is good news here. Closing.
