The current Community section provides some relevant factual information but it is boring and probably not very helpful (we can look at stats to get some data here). The look of the page also doesn't reflect any of the chaos and personality of the community -- having a bunch of organized static links doesn't really feel like to Mozilla to me.

We should look at redesigning the look and organization of this section. I'm not sure what the right answer is but maybe we want more of a dynamic Community dashboard here instead of just links? One idea that could be a part of this is creating a dynamic map of communication channels in the community -- see bug 485560 for more.
This post has some interesting suggestions about visualizing data that might be relevant for showing information on a new Community page.

Changing bug to focus more on the creation of useful and compelling content and we can deal with the design separately.

As an update, we've been working on putting together a map of the Mozilla web universe and this may be worth including in this section or making it the main Our Community page. Early draft version at:

Summary: Redesign Community section → Create more compelling content for Community section

Closing as fixed. We ended up replacing the old page with the map.
