Since defaulting all registered users to contributors, we've seen a lot of people register as a contributor just to ask a question. One possible reason is that they see "not registered" as a sign that they should register. Hopefully changing this will address that.

Cww, where else does this show up? I found it on tiki-view_forum.php so far.

Ah, yes, I also see it in localization files. So, this will create the need for localization of the new string...

Laura, David, can you take a look at this? We're getting many new users that don't need to sign up, and the changed terminology should help.

I followed the path from the homepage to ask a question to the forums and I don't see it anywhere. I think this is a useful change, but I don't think we should count on this having the desired effect.

a=djst. Change the string. :) Might not make much of a difference, but the current string sends an unnecessary message that it's "something wrong" with not being registered.

Can we find out if people are registering after posting? If omniture will tell us either way we might as well check it out!
Targetting for 1.2 to keep it on the radar. This should be trivial.
Target Milestone: Future → 1.2
Can we make it into 1.1? (just a string change.)

Simple patch to change "not registered" to "Firefox user" wherever I could find it.

Looks like an example of a string change where we're hardcoding the product name, making it harder to productizing SUMO. Not sure what the solution is, but it looks to me like we'll want to use something more generic implementation-wise, e.g. "$productName user" Laura, just move to 1.1.1 if you agree, or if you don't have time to review this for 1.1.

Laura, David: so what's up with this? "$productName user" would be an easy change, indeed. I'll move it to 1.1.1 for now. If we have a consensus by tonight, I can commit.

r26283 / r26284 Comitted patch r+'ed by laura. We've convened that the $productName idea (comment 11) will be done once we do a massive rewrite of SUMO to include support for other Mozilla products

How many other places besides http://support-stage.mozilla.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1&comments_parentId=349770, where it now shows up as "Firefox User", was this fixed? I tried reading the patch, but suck.
Verified FIXED -- looks like the files touched were all about the forums, which I've checked.
