When I use control-click to open a link in a new tab, I have to keep the Control key pressed until the new tab appears -- or the link will open in the same tab instead.  

When Firefox gets bogged down, this can mean holding the key down for over a second.

Please forgive me if this is a duplicate issue.  This is my #1 complaint about Firefox since I installed it a year ago, and I've suffered with this problem in both Firefox versions 2 & 3.  I can't imagine that no one else is having this issue, but I can't seem to find it searching the bug database.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press & hold Control key
2. Click on a hyperlink & quickly release the Control key
3. Wait for link to open
Actual Results:  
Link opens in the same tab.

Expected Results:  
Link should open in a new tab.

This is most noticeable on a slow computer, or when Firefox otherwise gets bogged down. 

The state of the Control key should be recorded by Firefox when a link is clicked, *NOT* later when the navigation code is trying to decide whether to open the link in a new tab or the same tab.

I have the same problem since I upgrade to firefox 3.5, the new firefox is slower to open new tabs through this method, so if I open 20 tabs this way I should keep Ctrl pressed for about 30 secs since last link clicked. 
Firefox 3.0.XX was faster opening new tabs, so I haven't notice anything.
I even disabled all addons, and still get the same result.
Again this problem for me only happens in firefox 3.5 not earlier versions.

This bug is a duplicate of Bug 145313.
I had this problem in 3.0 as well, but some people noticed it first in 3.5.

Moreover, Bug 484964 and Bug 490122 describe performance problems that makes these ctrl-click bugs really problematic.
