When opening the bookmarks Panel with ctrl+D and clicking the arrow next to folder list, the resulting drop down list entries are truncated with dots as the panel is to narrow.

If you click the progressive disclosure control to show all bookmark folders the entire panel increases in width and then the folder drop down list displays the entire contents properly.

This could be fixed if the initial width of the panel was slightly increased.

Note sure if this should be in the places or theme component.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start minefield in a new profile
2. Bookmark the page; either press ctrl+D or Bookmark | Bookmark this page, or click the star twice.
3.Click the down arrow next to the folder list
Actual Results:  
The entries for Bookmarks Toolbar and Unsorted Bookmarks are truncated to Bookmarks Toolb... and Unsorted Bookm... respectively

Expected Results:  
Bookmarks Toolbar and Unsorted bookmark folders to be displayed properly.

even if you enlarge it, it could still be small for other localization, so there's no way to find a good size for all of them. would be much better allow the user to choose a size for his panel.

Yes, we should fix bug 418864, but we should have a good default as well.  The localization concern is out of place: if we can't pick one size that's good across locales, we can make the size localizable too.

I like to make small edits to the title rather than making my own title.  The tiny width makes that hard.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.

On Windows 7 the issues in comment 0 are now resolved. Would be good to have confirmation from someone on XP then this can be closed --> WORKSFORME. 

The default names for the bookmarks menu, bookmarks toolbar, and unsorted bookmarks all fit within the default width of the drop down.

I've seen this issue on Mac OSX 10.9.5 using Firefox 45.0.1 (buildID: 20160315153207): when clicking the arrow next to Folder list, the Bookmarks Toolbar and Unsorted Bookmarks are truncated to "Bookmarks Tool..." and "Unsorted Book...". Please attached screenshot "issue.png".

I think the defaults here changed long ago with the star UI change, and we now no longer have this issue.
