490839 - Adding a LOCALIZATION NOTE to prevent the modification of ALT+D shortcut to focus in the location bar

The ALT+D shortcut has been introduced in Firefox for a long time to
mimic the Internet Explorer shortcut to put the focus in the location bar.

The French team has been warned about a regression on this shortcut for
Firefox 3.5 b4 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490687).
The accesskey was accidentally changed.

As we ran into this issue for the second time, we decided to put a
LOCALIZATION NOTE in the French browser.dtd warning to not change this
accesskey.

I don't know if it is the same for all the locales. If it is the case, maybe it is worth to add this warning in the en-US browser.dtd file.

It's not. E.g. in German it's Alt+S (even though IE7 has changed to using Alt+E).

Along with a note saying it should reflect what's used by whichever version of IE seems best to imitate for your locale, it should also be renamed: that's totally not urlbar.accesskey, it's urlbar.commandkey or really openCmdForIEUsers.commandkey, and tools that deal with accesskeys (coincidentally, I'm writing one at the moment) shouldn't be fooled into thinking it's an accesskey or that it has anything to do with any label.

I vote for this change too. Finnish translators changed the D key to S for Firefox 4 and that shortcut is completely nonfunctional. Alt+S does the same thing in Finnish Firefox as is does in English version and opens the History menu entry. I consider Alt+D as elemental as Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V and changing it only harms users.

As Internet Explorer is now EOL'ed and almost part of history, maybe we should RESOLVED NOT FIXED this long standing bug? I do not know if I have legitimacy to do this.
