when viewing an ecrypted with ssl page, firefox says "No owner" and also "This web site does not supply identity information." even if the owner is present in the certificate. (the o=organisation field of ssl)
If you press on "view certificate" one can clearly see the owner name.
dont get confused, I am not talking about the new EV certificates. There are also "non-EV" certificates which include physical business verification. These were very common before the EV came into play, but still exist.
Nowadays there are 3 types of ssl. domain-validate, business-validate, and EV-validate. The latter two have owner but firefox displayes owner only for EV and treats the other two like their are the same. very wrong indeed.
thank you for reading.
p.s. i would be happy to send an example url to anybody interested via a private message or e-mail. I would rather not post the website online here for reasons of spam.
Reproducible: Always
